Alexandra Dormamu

For years, the highest suspected Sith in the Republic, Alexandra Dormamu was a woman to be feared by her enemies. She commanded one of the largest business empires in the Galaxy and definitely the largest private security force. Diversified holdings in agribusiness, heavy construction, shipbuilding, weapons, entertainment, and finance allowed her great reach, and reach she did. Taking over Santaros when it was a small holding company, presumably simply a front operation for a Sith cell, she used the wealth of the Sith to buy out key firms then the power of the Sith to drive them to succeed. Dormamu always was able to get the best price as competitors withdrew or their offers were declined. Unlike many companies that are takeover masters, Santaros kept most of its acquisitions, merging them into a dominant force in the Colonies region. Other Sith from the cell were moved into key management positions, driving their workers harder than they had ever worked before. Only the holdings of the Dranson Family? and a few others even came close in scope, and they exerted a lot less control over their businesses than Dormamu.

She sponsored chairs at universities and sent scouts into the unknown looking for anything of interest, from resource-rich worlds to Sith or Jedi artifacts to alien civilizations. It is assured that she found some of all due to the scope. At its peak, Santaros Corporation was responsible for almost 2% of the Republic's Gross Galactic Product.

But Santaros got greedy. It began preparing to start a civil war against the Republic. Secret bases and shipyards were constructed deep in the Rim. Fleets were constructed, crews began to train. And then it all crashed down. Several Jedi students stumbled across J'ror Tholin and were launched into a confusing game of hunter and hunted as they brought the attention of the Republic to the buildup of forces and the nefarious plots. Santaros was crushed with only a minor struggle by the weight of the Republic. Dormamu disappeared, most of her lieutenants running or killed by the Jedi. The question of what had happened was whispered, but never quite asked aloud. The Galaxy had been spared the ravages of a full-blown Sith rebellion, hadn't it? Dormamu had disappeared, but the Jedi would track her down eventually and bring her to justice. Most of her lieutenants were scattered, and there wasn't much to do but sell off the assets of a once mighty corporation to its competitors.

The truth of Alexandra Dormamu is far more difficult.
