Igashus Report

After the meeting with Doctor Jones, Igashu sequesters himself in a corner with a datapad and seems to be intent on writing, deleting and rewriting for the next few hours. He stops only to ask Quindo if he can scan in a few copies of his sketches. When it's finished Igashu calls the local chapter house and gets a copy of the public key for the Praconis Minor Praxeum, encrypts his mess and transmits it. leaving a copy out for the others to read, he heads to a bunk and falls fast asleep.

Subject: Delivery of Archaeology reports to Rand Al'Thor.

The delivery was successful, meaning the intended recipient received the documents. However, there were complications which I will endeavor to explain in detail.

Our journey and arrival on planet were without incident. After checking in at our hotel, we proceeded to sample some of the local cuisine and stretch our legs before retiring for the night. When we returned I noticed that someone had been in my room, as a number of small things had been moved around slightly. It could easily have been house cleaning, but as I had only been checked into the room for a few hours it seemed unlikely. Stretching out with the force, I attempted to reconstruct the events that had occurred while I was out. Though the vision was cloudy I witnessed a man entering my room, and searching through the drawers and my belongings for something. Since he left the credits behind the only assumption that could be made was that he searched for the crystal, which I had been carrying with me. I contacted Quindo immediately, and we discussed the situation. After an attempt to unwind time in his room, I witnessed a vision even more vague than the first. I could not tell for sure what the person had done, but someone had been in this room as well. We decided to wake the others, and contact security. While I brough Nakail and Elbram up to date, Quindo went to the lobby to speak to the management. After some discussion, the security tapes were played and Quindo saw a shadow, but no person leave my room while house cleaning was in the room across the hall. While making a copy of the tape for further study, the monitor began displaying only static, and then a face appeared. Both copies of the tape were destroyed, and Quindo sensed a lingering taint of darkness. I have included a rough sketch of the woman's face at the bottom of this document.

The events of the evening left us with a foreboding feeling, and it was decided that we should stay in the same room for the rest of the night. In the morning we checked out of the hotel, despite their generous offer to give us the rest of the stay for free, and proceeded to the University. We took extra care to use less predictable means of transit, but doing so meant we arrived late for the lecture. Reaching out with the force, we located a man whose connection I can only compare to the most accomplished Masters at Praconis Minor Praxeum. He answered to the name Rand Al'Thor and Dr. Jones verified his identity. After giving him the crystal he quizzed us on it's contents, and his motivations. All in all, he took on the role of a teacher rather quickly, and this was our first clue that things were not as they appeared. After the meeting we divided to search for as many answers as we could, and planned to meed with this Rand for dinner.

As my part of the tasks at hand I followed Rand discreetly, attempting to find out more about him, and the location for dinner he had hinted at. My surveillance turned up a female companion (we later discovered this was his wife), and that the couple lived in the Santaros Archology. Unfortunately Al'Thor discovered me shortly after I observed this much, and I was unable to learn more at that time. He did give me the location for dinner, and we traveled together to the restaurant to wait for the others. Arriving at the restaurant we bumped into a Jedi Knight by the name of To'iir and her student. They joined us for dinner, and both of the conversations that followed.

While I was following Al'Thor, Quindo took charge of the others and efficiently tasked them to answer more of the questions we had. Elbram found a second Jedi, claiming to be Al'Thor. When it slipped out that he was the 2nd Al'Thor he became nervous and inquisitive. He wanted to make sure we hadn't given the data crystal to the first Al'Thor, claimed "proof" of his identity, and asked for the crystal himself. Since Al'Thor #1 had made sure we copied the data crystal, we eventually surrendered a copy to Al'Thor #2. Nakail meanwhile studied our copy of the report, and searched for references to Al'Thor. He learned that Starburst, who wrote the report, was a subsidiary to Santaros (where Al'Thor #1 seemed to be employed). Nakail also learned that the Real Rand Al'Thor worked with a J'ror Tholin on a dig 20 years ago on the same planet detailed in the report. Interestingly enough the report was drafted by a J'ror Dranson.

That evening we met Rand #1 for dinner, and he questioned us on our findings, challenging us to dig deeper, and see the bigger picture. Leaving us with more questions than answers he paid for dinner and departed. We had learned that he actually worked for Starburst, the company that drafted the report, and suggested the name of the author was more than just coincidence (a lead we had all thought to investigate.) Rand #1 also spoke of a J'ror Tholin, and his marriage to Vraile Dranson, before leaving further cementing the idea that J'ror was somehow involved. Though many of us had already guessed how, there was no conclusive evidence at this point.

As Rand #1 left, we invited Rand #2 to join us for dessert. Unfortunately he was of much less help. We learned nothing new from him, but a feeling of distrust of him grew. I was not the only one who felt he was hiding something. After leaving dinner we returned to research, desperate to find out who was the real Rand. During this time we learned that the real Rand was tall, blonde, handsome, and most importantly had been dead for nearly 20 years. Who then were the two claiming to be Master Al'Thor? And what games were they playing?

A look into Dr. Jones files proved to be very informative as to the identity for Rand #1 and the woman i had seen him with. It seems that Rand #1 was J'ror Tholin, and the woman I had seen was Vraile Dranson. The files also pieced together about 20 years of history regarding the two of them. It seems that 20 years ago they were engaged to be married, and were working together on an archaeological dig on the same planet listed in the report. Vraile disappeared during that dig, and J'ror spent the next 8 years searching for her. He disappeared for 2 years, and then was suddenly back along with Vraile. 6 years after that Vraile returned to her studies at the university and has continued them through the present.

That night we slept aboard To'iir's ship. She seemed to be the only Jedi we felt we could trust. A strange feeling considering the general discouragement of lies and deceit within our order. On the next day, we continued again searching for answers, and arranged a face to face meeting with Dr. Jones. Hoping he could tell us more than his files did. Before this could happen however, I went to the university library to observe Rand #2 who we believed was there. While there I was jumped by 4 thugs, luckily I saw them coming, but what I did not see was the alien that stole the data crystal. Surrounded, and out gunned by the thugs demanding the crystal I decided to destroy it. Before I could act though, it was pulled through the air by an unseen force, which I can only assume to be the result of a dark Jedi. The ugly 4 legged monster crawled along the ceiling shrouded in shadow before entering a ventilation shaft, thereby escaping with the data crystal. The 4 thugs then led me a gun point to a private flyer and demanded the coordinates of the planet in the report. I managed to contact Quindo, who inturn contacted Rand #2 hoping we could trust him to help. Neither were able to do anything and in the end some hastily rounded coordinates were supplied to them, and I was released.

When I got out Rand #2 was there, and I simply demanded his real name and identity. We four students had been deceived enough, things were becoming dangerous and lies between Jedi only further the success of those who we work against! When confronted he admitted to being Altair, and Jedi in the service of the council looking for the man impersonating Rand Al'Thor. It seems whoever Altair was working for believed that Tholin could have fallen to the temptations of the Dark Side and he was here to check that out. He also volunteered that Tholin's last assignment was to look into the possibility that Mrs. Dormamu (head of Santaros) was herself a dark Jedi. As Tholin had been looking for some 20 years it was likely he knew one way or another, and what he found would explain his continued presence here. Before we could finish the discussion with Altair, the police raided the cafe and we were all placed under arrest. Altair acted rashly causing shots to be fired as he fled, leaving the 4 of us there to fend for ourselves. Luckily Mrs. Dormamu seems to have taken an interest in us, and provided an attorney who was able to get us released after our mistaken identity was cleared up.

All in all it has been a very interesting, and hectic few days. I feel we have properly delivered the crystal to the person who requested it, though 3 other groups have obtained the data as well. 2 of whom I feel are less than trustworthy. As the data is now Public domain, it is likely a non-issue. However, since no one that we met during out stay here has been completely honest I cannot in good conscience return to Praconis at this time. There is a race on to recover any sith artifacts still located on the planet, involving a Jedi of unknown allegiance (Tholin), a Jedi who cares little for his comrades (Altair), an unknown Dark Jedi, and the local Hutt Family. Therefore I will be heading to the planet myself with the help of To'iir and her student. The other's feel as I do, and plan on accompanying me. Should anything happen to us, I hope this report will help to explain the strange events surrounding our mission.

On a personal note, though I list Tholin's allegiance as unknown I belive he remains true to the Jedi Code. Interviews with him, Dr. Jones, as well as research, and a "feeling" are all I can site as reasons for doing so. With all the lies and deceit we have encountered in the last few days, it becomes more and more apparent to me that the force works in mysterious ways and I must trust my feelings. They are more reliable than words or appearances.

There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no death; there is the Force.
