9.31.4786 Republic Reckoning

What are our bumbling students up to this week? Getting into more trouble of course! We open in sector P3X259 as Elbram is watching the sensors when something big enters the system! Some passive scanning magic shows it to be a capital ship of some sort, and it's path seems to be taking it to the refueling station where we're docked!

To'iir heads out to disconnect the ship from the fueling station, only to find a leak in the line has lead to the connector being iced over. Igashu heads out to help chip away the ice quickly. As soon as the pair return to the ship, Davin burns out of the station keeping it between himself and the newly arrived ship, then cuts the engines at the last moment and begins to drift out in a slow orbit of the nearby planet. Unfortunately no one saw the second ship also heading toward the station. Igashu jumps on comms and offers up a bluff about engine trouble, which seems to buy them a few minutes. It's decided that they'll leave the system, but fly past the planet's rings and actively scan the asteroid gaps to see if anything is hidden there. Unfortunately this seems to wear out the welcome.

Flying through the gap, and taking pictures and detailed scans of the powered down warships hidden therein seems to be the last straw for the warships one of which gives chase and begins to fire missiles. To'iir jumps into the piloting chair, Davin is shunted over to sensor duty, Quindo runs for the gun turret, Mira takes comms, and Igashu makes tea for him and Elbram while the chaos ensues. Quindo shows us again why he is a badass as he proceeds to shoot down missile after missile even though he has almost no training in the starship weaponry. Davin runs back to help Quindo as things get hot, Mira takes over at Sensors, and Igashu drops the tea to take over at Comms. Davin returns to his normal self and promptly causes his turret to malfunction, and Elbram runs back to help with the repairs. Quindo continues to dazzle all with his luc... skill I mean. Yeah that's it skill. Igashu manages to get a message out through the jamming to the republic, and attaches all data they collected on the ships hidden in orbit, and the group narrowly escapes heading to the next system on their list. The ever popular THX-1138.

During travel, Igashu has a second look at all the data Davin collected. Crispy Flakes(tm), and Alter(tm) were developed @ an experimental facility that used to be run by the new (evil)-V.P. of Thantos (subsidiary of Santaros).

Arrival on a Santaros controlled planet is not so easy as one might think. Since it's restricted to company employee's only, the group lies a bit and uses their old company ID's gambling that the records of their termination haven't arrived in system yet. Luckily for them, the gamble pays off and the Lunatic Fringe is cleared for landing. A quick stop at the survey office yields information that a "Rand Altair" matching J'ror's desc. has just arrived on planet. After quickly dismissing the survey office, the group splits to do some shopping, and to find J'ror. Shopping is easy enough, while finding J'ror on the other hand turns out to be a bit of wasted effort for the time being. His ship is found, but he's not home. His comm seems to be active, but no one answers. Pesky Jedi is probably just snubbing us again. Igashu debates breaking into the ship for fun, but decides it's not worth the effort. Shopping continues, and people start returning to the ship... but they're not alone. Paramilitary troops seem to be moving into the docks toward J'ror's ship and something about a "high Rad count" is being discussed!

Well well well... Look what the paramilitary lead us to, it's J'ror back at his ship. We just missed him... and what's that he's tossing? Seems to have the guards all scared. Well at least this time he answer's the comm... but seems a bit distraught. Some sort of tiff with his wife has him all bent out of shape. After a bit of rubbernecking, and chatting J'ror decides to ditch the guards, and join the group on To'iir's ship. His basic quandary is that Vraile has decided to join with Dormamu for the time, or at least to play both ends against the middle. Her decision is based on some valid complaints about flaws in the Republic, and J'ror is confused. He's not sure that "what she's doing is entirely wrong." Lucky for him, a bunch of young idealistic students are around. As Igashu puts it, "Well, what is it? We'll tell you if it's right or wrong, we're still young and idealistic enough to make those kind of value judgments." So discussion commences, the burning smell indicating a great deal of thinking begins to pervade the cabin, and finally after second of deliberation. "I thought about it... it's wrong. You can't compromise on somethings!" Igashu informs J'ror. "Yeah, it's like waffles. They're either good or bad." Davin adds. "Exactly!" Igashu agrees. Despite the humor, J'ror's mood does not improve. He does however seem to agree with the students. But first things first. He wants to talk with his old student To'iir and drink some beer. So off to Mike's Pub it is.
