Lightsaber Construction II

A Jedi must devote a great deal of time and skill to constructing a lightsaber and they must also imbue it with some measure of their personal strength in the Force. The lightsaber then becomes an extension of the Jedi, as much a part of them as their arm.

Step 1: Selecting components

  • Case (Each case has a certain number of cubic centimeters(cc) available to hold components)
  • Also, each standard metal case (for other options, see Custom Modifications) has the option of having a heavy case, increasing the effective Constitution of the lightsaber by +1D to resist damage, but at the cost of 20% less space.

  • Crystal (All crystals take up 20cc)

  • Crystal Mount (Each crystal needs a tunable mount to keep it properly aligned despite rough handling)
    • Low Quality (10 cc, -1 to effective Constitution)
    • Medium Quality (5 cc)
    • High Quality (3 cc, -1 to effective Constitution or 5cc, +1 to effective Constitution)

  • Power Cell (It is recommended that a Lightsaber have at least 500kJ of energy available and needs at least the crystal activation energy to energize it. Without more power, certain modifications are prohibited.)
  • Warning: Must be purchased as a block, so upgrades only possible as entire power system (May have small cells for other mods, but cannot power any blade-related items)
    • Power Density
      • Low density (10 kJ per 4 cc)
      • Mid density (10 kJ per 2 cc)
      • High density (10 kJ per 1 cc)
    • Quality
      • Low grade (0.5x cost and get the following: +50% space, -50% energy density, +5 to difficulty)
      • Mid grade (as stated)
      • High grade (3x cost and can get one of the following: -25% space, +20% energy density, -5 to difficulty)
    • Custom Power Cell

  • Energy Chamber (Can limit the types of modifications possible and deals with the robustness of the design.)
  • Warning:Cannot be upgraded in the future
    • Chamber Volume
      • Low volume (50 cc, -2 to effective Constitution of saber)
      • Mid volume (75 cc)
      • High volume (100 cc, +2 to effective Constitution of saber)
    • A small chamber can have one additional crystal, medium two crystals, large three. This includes both additional Adegan and Modifier crystals.
    • Quality
      • Low grade (0.5x cost and get one of the following: +50% in volume, -2 to effective Constitution,+5 to difficulty)
      • Mid grade (as stated)
      • High grade (3x cost to get one of the following: -20% volume, +2 to effective Constitution,-5 to difficulty)
    • Custom Energy Chamber?

  • Emitter (Can limit the types of future modifications possible.)
  • Warning:Cannot be upgraded in the future
    • Size
      • Tiny (10 cc, flush with lightdaggers, cannot handle more than 4D character/4D+2 speeder damage)
      • Small (15 cc, flush with normal sabers, cannot handle more than 6D character/6D+2 speeder damage)
      • Medium (20 cc, flush with large sabers, cannot handle more than 8Dc/7D+2s damage)
      • Large (35 cc, can handle up to 10Dc/8D+1s damage)
    • Quality
      • Low grade (0.5x price and get one of the following: -2 to effective Constitution, +50% in volume, +5 to difficulty, -1Dc/-2s damage max)
      • Mid grade (as listed)
      • High grade (3x price and get one of the following: -20% in volume, -5 to difficulty, +1Dc/+2s damage max)
    • Custom Emitter?

  • Controls ('basic' Controls are generally small and mounted on the exterior of the saber. They use no space. (internal switches are very small as well))
    • Low grade (might need some smacking around)
    • Mid grade (will work almost all the time)
    • High grade (will almost always work)

Step 2: (Optional) - Refine design and do pre-work.

Each component takes the same time as the component in question. Base difficulty is the standard difficulty for the component minus 5. By every five points that the refining exceeds the difficulty, a one-pip bonus is given to the construction of that respective component.

Step 3: Begin construction.

Each task takes 16 hours time. Exceeding the difficulty by 10 decreases the time of that step by 50%. (Exceeding the diff by 20 would reduce the time to 4 hours)

  • Attune and Mount Crystals (Diff 20 lightsaber repair)
  • Attach power cell to energy collector and charger (Diff 20 lighsaber repair)

  • Emitter Construction and Focusing (Diff 25 lightsaber repair)
  • Attach Controls, conduct final alignment (Diff 20 lightsaber repair)

Step 4: Add modifications
