Custom Power Cell
A Jedi has a few additional power options when constructing a saber.
External Power Pack
- The power cell is external, wrist or belt mounted. The Power cell is constructed normally, but takes up no space inside the saber. The power cell is connected to the saber by an electrical cord and plug. In a pinch, one could power the saber by hotwiring it to a sufficiently powerful battery or generator, but the Jedi would then be limited in mobility by the length of the cord.
Conduit Plating
- The saber has no internal power cell. Instead, the casing of the saber is designed to channel Conduit energy directly from the Jedi into the saber. Difficulty of the power is based on the activation energy of the crystal(s). A botched roll could cause a surge in the saber, resulting in damage to it, or even its destruction.
- Surge Protector (20/10/5cc) - Protects the saber from the aforementioned botch.
Custom designed cell
- Perhaps the most difficult custom component of a lightsaber is the energy cell. Creation of a power cell requires Lighsaber Engineering or Advanced Chemistry (though blaster engineering can do in a pinch).
- Difficulty begins at 20 to create your own basic power cell (10kJ per 4cc). Every 5 points beyond 20 doubles the energy capacity of the cell. Creating a power cell better than the best on the market requires at least a Diff 35 roll. Needless to say, Force abilities are almost certainly required.
(Note: Numbers are estimates... GM should finalize?)
