Khidyr Tyamzashe

When some of the actions of J'ror Tholin were brought to the attention of the Jedi Council, it was disturbing news. One member that was most concerned by this news was Khidyr Tyamzashe. A short Human female, she was one of the most junior members of the Council, despite being almost 100 standard years? old. She was instrumental in getting Tholin banished to Califax and was similarly instrumental in removing ex-Councilor Valis? after he directed the Praconis Minor Group to retrieve Tholin from his banishment and continue his illegal mission, as she saw it. Continuing with this, she kept pressuring the Jedi Council to force the Praconis Minor Group to find a more traditional master or set of masters, assigning Marozia Wolde-Tsodik to tracking them down and pushing Master Aegon and his student Christina Voltaire on the group as an attempt to moderate their dangerous dalliances with moral relativism. Her efforts were mostly unsuccessful and she focused her attentions on maintaining a discipline within the order and garnered a small staff of like-minded Jedi to assist her. Then came the fall of Coruscant. She evacuated early with a group of Jedi determined to produce a backup cadre if the worst happened. It almost happened, but thanks to the heroic efforts of Khadija Nasiri, Mundi-Das-Korden and others, it was not quite the killing blow to the Order or to the Republic that the Sith had hoped. Since the relocation to Corellia and assumption of executive powers, she has seen her influence grow, as a more traditional mindset has come over many Jedi. The position and duties were formalized with her appointment as Guardian of the Distinction of Will?. Her staff has grown as well as her responsibilities now include policing the ranks to ensure that the Jedi are not influenced by the Dark Side. She is quiet in Council meetings, but wields significant power behind the scenes.

She maintains a small set of apartments near the new Jedi Council chambers so she can walk to work and does not allow herself or her staff to indulge in the many benefits of urban life at the center of government.

Responsibilities

The most visible responsibility of her office is to monitor the other Jedi to ensure they have not succumbed to the Dark Side of the Force. This is presently done through directives issued through the Jedi hierarchy ensuring that Jedi are interviewed by their superiors regularly to ensure they have not strayed from the Light. She is hoping to add to this soon with a hand picked group of Jedi who would be assigned to Jedi groups and ensure they are following the proper directives and staying true to the Jedi Code (new version). She is beginning to crack down on those Jedi who are allowing themselves to be worldly and otherwise "unduly influenced by exterior influences," finding their actions "unbecoming of a Jedi." Several have been removed from positions of high responsibility, but she has pursued the cases she visibly enforces carefully, wary of a backlash. Most merely get a verbal reprimand from a superior and most of those quickly change their ways. She is pleased with what progress has been made and is continuing to look at the longer-term to ensure the survival of the Jedi Order as a guardian of the Light Side? of the Force.

Other Politics

Khidyr is involved with several other Councillors, most often the regional Officers who are responsible for the rank-and-file Jedi in their territories. She has met with some resistance from Cro Zalk? when he was forced to reprimand and remove a close friend for actions unbecoming when the friend was providing a vital war-related service. Other actions are with Mundi-Das-Korden to clarify the regulations concerning investigations and other activities of questionable legality for a Jedi, searches for knowledge of how to maintain a more resolute will against the Dark Side in concert with the Officer of Knowledge?,Nep Dllr?, and frequent liaison with Tercez Rul'yka? to enforce time away from the front for atoning for Jedi directly engaged in the War. She is cool to the Head of the Council Zeltar Hale, knowing he has the resurrection parasite, but will follow her own conscience when dealing with his proposals, knowing he had a good heart before he was infected.

The Peace overtures made by the Davrosh faction of the Sith have troubled her. She reluctantly agreed to negotiate with them, although she did not participate directly. She carefully observed the other Councillors for signs of Sith influence, paying close attention to Zeltar Hale. She is unconvinced, but she fears that there were no attempts to subvert the council and therefore the Sith were negotiating in good faith. The emergence of TCV has rattled her, but this is yet one more challenge the Order will overcome.
