Tara Vash grew up on Corretin?, dreaming of getting offworld. She fell in love with Ildio and they moved to Aysemius and Canton. The travel and challenge of setting up a life was exciting, but now that the land has mostly been tamed, she is unsure if she really wants to take the next step. While friends with people much as Ilio is, she has taken to spending a lot more time with Zara and Trice to hear about other offworld adventures. She is often found at the general store of Nepente chatting with the owner and other customers. It was rumored that she may have had a brief affair with the engineer of the Brentaalian trader that stopped in town a year ago (and revealed the real name of Noven and Trice), but that has faded away with the growing talk of Nepente and Keldic Uldamanth. There was no confirmation one way or another. She is ultimately unsure of what she wants to do, and as such, was somewhat excited by the prospect of "roughing it" when the Big City was destroyed by TCV.

A surivor of the evacuation and subsequent prisoner of Takane Kingston, she saw what the mine work did to Ildio and has no intention of going through that too. When word was carefully spread of the arrival of the Blood Price and the requirement of a 'few dead men,' she quickly volunteered.
