This male Bothan? has finally achieved his clan's goal of acquiring a seat on the Jedi Council. His dedicated service, skillful use of the Bothan Spynet? to acquire information for the Order, and skillful negotiation landed him the position of Officer of the Exterior on the Council. The only drawback to this is that his Clan-enemy Tercez Rul'yka? also landed a seat at the same time. Both have found each other useful allies as the Jedi Council consolidates power, but at some point their attentions will likely turn on one another, possibly to the detriment of the Order.

Councilor Ek'tvo bears a scar from his confrontation with Darth Maldar? almost a decade ago when he and Zeltar Hale confronted the Sith. Though Hale was the one who defeated him and garnered most of the public recognition, it was Ek'tvo's careful use of the Spynet? that allowed them to track his movements and confront him before he was ready. The fight was brutal and Hale saved Ek'tvo's life when they were separated by Maldar and his assistants, and Ek'tvo bears great respect and loyalty to the council head, which is returned by Hale. When not focused on something with his hands, he is known to fiddle with his clan medallion and is known to be most efficient in dispatching his duties.

Responsibilities

The Officer of the Exterior is a position that is fairly recently gaining importance in galactic affairs. With the Republic previously covering almost all known territories and integrating most political bodies, there was very little external diplomacy to conduct. The internal matters were handled in the Senate?. Councilor Ek'tvo saw that the position would be of extreme importance, potentially only behind the Council Head, and maneuvered to acquire the position. The Councillor has managed to discharge those duties admirably, maintaining several key diplomats even though their worlds had fallen to Bellisarius or declared independence. He is presently trying to arrange an alliance with several of the independent factions, or at least to ensure they do not help the now fractured Sith Empire.

Other politics

Councillor Ek'tvo is working with many of the other Councillors to rebuild the Republic into something that will sustain itself from any future Sith uprising, potentially instilling the core values of the Jedi into all of its citizens. While this may mean manipulating his homeworld, he feels that if it is in the interest of the galaxy, he will do it, but he will do it in a way so that his clan becomes the example for the others to follow.

The Councillor is suspicious of the activities of the regional Councillors Zuljeta Letele? (Officer of the Colony Worlds?) and Cro Zalk? (Officer of the Rim Worlds?) for their efforts to minimize the council's effectiveness. He is working with Mandirali Gocek?, the Officer of the Core Worlds? to bring them more into the fold, or at least maintain an eye on their activities. If they show themselves to be actively working against the will of the Council, he is considering referring their activities to Councillor Nep Dllr?, the Officer of Knowledge?.

Ek'tvo also works closely with Nep Dllr? on many issues related to the sharing of information between the intelligence services of the Republic and Bothan Spynet? as well as sharing information that may be critical to ongoing negotiations. This relationship includes Tercez Rul'yka? as the Officer of Peace, who controls the remaining military forces and who can lend an implied threat or blunt a Sith move.
