And the giant clams...run towards the water, ignoring heroes in their path. This is serious only because Evika is trampled by one and is brought near death. And then the clams are attacked by aggressive, pre-sapeint, reptillian carnivores. Igashu uses his ability to Speak with Animals? to persuade them to stay away from the group, and the crew watches the parent clams battle the carnivores as the carnivores attack the young clams. Evika is stabilized.

Following the clue of the docks, the group goes to an island in the river, finding a habitation dome. Under the dome is a large subterranian greenhouse with many unkempt plants. One corner has a corpse stuffed into a pipe section and an epitaph engraved on it. The bathroom has a corpse hanging from the shower. Both are decades old.

In addition to the small quantities of jewels the group already found, they also obtained the coordinates of the mining base elsewhere (one planet inwards) in the system. This was where all the exotic gems were obtained. Igashu also rescued a number of pepper plants, spice plants, small orange trees, etc.

Moving on, the group proceeds to the next planet on their survey, a watery world with massive algae-like lifeforms covering most of the oceans. Only a few crushed-shell islands poke up above the sea, and on one they find a hut with a note to meet J'ror, Aenea, and Vraile at the Kathol Rift. They also point out a rusted container from Nakail's battlecruiser which was found on the shore.

The group picks up and races on toward the Rift.
