These are normal non-quantum computers that use thermal energy to power their computations. By running, they make their environment cooler. As they are made out of superconducting materials, this makes them run faster, which makes things cooler and so on. By controlling the rate of computation, it is possible to control the temperature of the environment around these devices to within a few miliKelvin. And they also do useful work, while violating Laws of Thermodynamics. They are commonly used as the primary passive components of a HyperCloak and are used on the vessels of the Jedi Order, Tion Principality and New Sith Empire extensively. Some have fallen into the hands of third parties, often with disasterous consequences for the vessel involved.

One was used by J'ror Tholin to prevent infestation by the Dark Swarm.
