The crew decides to go on to Giju to meet up with Maruon Tagoor, the Herglic crime lord that they were given as a contact for some smuggling jobs. The trusty Hobson's Choice gets them to Station Four, but after some asking around, Kurgan gets led somewhere, but not to Mr. Tagoor. A new boss ("Call me Ishmael") has arrived and has exiled Mr. Tagoor. But he's still looking for someone to do some reliable work. He offers a job: Find Daliv Malkani?, a minor noble from the Tapani Sector, a nearby monarchistic sector. He was last seen in the city of Skarool? at the Tapani hotel. A quick call to the hotel suggests he checked out a week ago. Getting a photo, they check as many other hotels as possible, but find that many of them have been commandeered by the government as refugee barracks. A small hotel -- too small for the refugee board to bother with yet -- finally delivers a positive hit. He checked out that morning. The team races over.
