Kurgan

Kurgan Sunson (stupid last name subject to change w/o notice)

Kurgan grew up in an ordinary, developed agrarian, run of the mill planet (planetname)... that had the misfortune to fall in the initial days of the Sith crusade. Because the system resisted, and because the army was hungry for men, the Sith proposed a bargain: Either one member of every family would volenteer for dangerous duty, or all men and women of appropriate age would be drafted. (Planetname tended towards large families). Kurgan signed on the dotted line, went through a cursory medical screening (where they learned he wasn't a potential force user), then shipped him out in a cargo hauler... after freezing him in carbonite.

After the surviving recruits were defrosted, they were placed in groups of ten and told they would live or die as a group. If all ten members, or their bodies, did not reach their assigned pickup zone on time, all those at the site would be killed and the remainder would be left behind. The planet had higher than normal gravity and yet high altitude atmospheric conditions, the natives were primitive but hostile, they had been stripped naked (except for an ID band), and the pickup zone was a long way off...

Kurgan survived, as did six others in his group. He had grown up on a farm, unlike some members of his group, and managed to convince the native's mounts to accept them. Another in his group, Burma, taught them rudimentary melee skills.

Kurgan did not remain with all six survivors, but three made their way into his eventual unit. The plan was for them to be given the "soldier serum," a host of disease innoculations and biochemical modifying agents (represted by chacter merits and flaws... berzerk, fast healer, perceptive, cyberware rejection are what I think I had...), rudimentary Maurauder training, and to be sent out on Marauder duty... which happened to have the highest casualty figures of any operational specialty when this plan was drawn up. Survivors would be given elite training to carve them into specialized anti-jedi assassins.

Kurgan never returned from his first mission. After learning his family, all of the families of those who had signed up, had been enslaved and set to work in wartime production activities, he and the three other surviving members of his 'pack' conspired to sabotage their squad's attempt to capture an enemy vessel by the simple expedient of misaligning the demolition charges and surrendering to the republic afterwards.

Kurgan served a short term in the Republic fleet before he learned his home planet had tried to rebel and been bombed back into the stoneage. He had a nervous breakdown, and assaulted a superior officer. A short cooling-off period in the stockades later, he had an economy ticket to wherever he wanted to go and a few personal possessions.

When forced to leave his home, he lost all he owned: a wooden shack, a herd of sheep-like-animals (shep), a couple of hog-like-animals, a horse-like-animal (Digmeat the Thumper), and a few german-sheopard-like canine/ ursine animals (digs)... a blaster pistol, and his sith boarding vibroaxe. He still looks out for the other guy, and tries to keep his temper in check.

Having secured the Blood Price, he is well on his way to redressing the wrongs done to him and his people.
