Varen Rill
Master Varen Rill is a Jedi healer. Unconcerned with either the mechanics of politics or of war, he spends most of his time oblivious to the galaxy around him. He was Evika al-Amri's master for her longest stint of apprenticeship, and she regards him with a great deal of affection and respect, combined with the concern that one day he will cut his own head off with his lightsaber.
Tales of Rill's day-to-day absentmindedness are only slightly exaggerated. He usually remembers to wear shoes, and will generally eat before he collapses from hunger, but he also routinely forgets appointments and misplaces anything not actually attached to his body. In medicine, however, his mind is focused, and his skills are razor-sharp.
Even as a Padawan, Rill knew he wanted to be a healer, and pursued his goal resolutely. Healing Force abilities take some of the most devoted study to learn, and Rill picked them up quickly. He was repeatedly reprimanded for his lack of attention to detail in other areas, but his undeniable medical talent carried him through his training.
Rill's Knighthood consisted mostly of traveling from world to world as a doctor, curing epidemics and constructing medical infrastructure on planets that lacked it. Politics left no mark on him, and he was willing to provide medical help wherever it was needed, regardless of affiliation or creed.
His undeniable strength in the Force led to him being granted the rank of Master, and his role shifted towards teaching. Awarded a professorship at the University of Coruscant Medical School, he took on students, both Jedi and not, and gradually his now-legendary absentmindedness increased. In his academic role, Rill is responsible for pioneering work in rehabilitative therapy and epidemiology, though many of his techniques cannot be duplicated by non-Force sensitives.
Rill is now on Clak'dor VII, continuing the research into TCV and the Resurrection Parasite begun by the Misfits and his former apprentice Evika.
