Lightsaber Construction
Buildng a lightsaber is one of the rites of passage for a Jedi Knight. The Jedi may have begged, borrowed, or stolen numerous lightsabers before, but never has any of them been uniquely his. A lightsaber is an interesting contradiction in Jedi philosophy. In an order that spurns materialism, it is a highly personalized and valuable possession. In an order that espouses peace and non-violence, it is a weapon of unparallelled destructive capability. Perhaps this is why each Jedi must build their own lightsaber. They must come to terms with the need of the Jedi Order to be flexible and adaptable in an ever changing galaxy, while holding true to the priciples of the Jedi Code.
