The Uzed race of near humans is primarily distinguished by the presence of three genders. The ruling 'Tri' gender is notably more inteligent than the male and female genders. One tri is born out of every 10 children. Cultural norms suggest that men perform manual labor and participate in industry, women perform domestic and child-rearing tasks, and the tri conduct intellectual and administrative tasks.

The Uzed are a near-human race, and it has been suggested that they are the product of mutation and/or genetic engineering. Apart from the presence of a third (neuter) gender, the major differences are superfical pigmentation variations. Red skin, silver eyes, and white hair are stereotypical of the Uzed, although there was actually a wide variation during the height of the Disc Triarchy.

Following the release of germ warfare agents, general societal colapse destroyed much of the Uzed culture. The majority of Uzed-dominated communities now exist aboard their Pseudo-Organic Capital Ships.
