Adapting to Our New Role
By: Knight Christina Voltaire
The Jedi have accepted the role of the ruling government of the New republic. This is a responsibility that we as Jedi should not take lightly. The methods that we have used to acquire new potential and to nurture those with potential are old and out dated. While some of the methods still have many practical uses we need to rethink how we are going to do these things if we plan to succeed with our new role. The recruiting practices of the order have been very restrictive. If we are to fill the role of ruling body and protector, we must broaden our selection to some we may have passed by before. This includes being more thorough of our searches for the young that show potential and training those even with lesser connections to the force. This also would mean seeking out those who may not have grown up under the teachings of the Jedi and to bring them into our training. Adding so many new Jedi into the training, and choosing a less specific group, will mean that we need to implement changes to how we teach these beings how to be Jedi. There are advantages to looking into how the Jedi Code effects us, and how that will effect our new role in the Republic. A restructuring of at the disciplines to better suit the current roles that the Jedi play in the galaxy is required. An increase in the number and use of internships for Padawan focusing on interaction with Non-Force Sensitives will benefit our relations with non-Force Sensitives.
