Advanced skills give bonuses to skills they are based upon -- i.e. Space Transports Engineering gives bonuses to Space Transports Repair at a level equal to the engineering skill, but not to Advanced Math. Use your head on this one. The broader engineering skills give bonuses to repair rolls at half their value if the appropriate engineering skill is also posessed.
