Republic Reckoning 5.5.87

We leave Coruscant on a courier for Brentaal. Dabai remains on Coruscant. We are to meet Jedi Master Aegon and assist him in efforts to guard the Nantel Emporer from the Sith. Or something. Quindo spends 2 days constructing his lightsaber.

Republic Reckoning 5.7.87

We arrive on Brentaal and report to the Jedi Consulate. Master Aegon seems to be out at the moment, so we find out where his office is and go there. The door is closed but not locked, the lights are out and nobody's home. We decide to wait inside anyway (and maybe be nosy) and head into his office. A young woman comes up behind us and asks "Can I help you?". We explain that we're here to see Aegon and were planning to wait in his office. She tells us that he's off collecting another member of our group, some kid named Igahsu, and by the way, her name is Christina Voltare and she's Aegon's apprentice.

Wait, did she say Igashu? Quindo tried his PTP link and he answers. There is much excitedness and Igashu says he's on his way. YAAAY!

We wait in Aegon's office for a little while. He comes in with Igashu!!! YAAAY!! Elbram senses both of them and doesn't detect any Dark Side. For some inexplicable reason, Igashu is decked out in full Jedi Robes, but at least he's wearing a pair of really expensive sunglasses.

There is much rejoicing.

Aegon explains that we're leaving for Nantel at 0800 tomorrow morning and that we are expected to be at the shuttleport at 0700. We all decide to spend a night out catching up with Igashu.

Igashu convinces Christina to come along. "It's Tradition!" Early in the evening, during dinner and drinks, Quindo gets Igashu away from the group for a little while and asks him to help find a fixer. He's been here for a while, so he should have contacts. They meet a shady character and set up an account for sniffing out information about Quindo's mother on Nalhutta. The plan is to find out where she is, how she is, and if she could be bought or otherwise rescued from Momudu. Igashu helps Quindo set up an info drop that he can check periodically. They get back to dinner and drinks. Nobody wonders too much where they were for an hour.

Igashu offers Christina a drink.

Chis - "Why exactly are we doing this? I don't think Jedi are supposed to drink and dance."
Igashu - "Rule #1: The night before you leave civization, enjoy it. Doubley so if you're going into danger. Before you go out to defend the lives of others, you need to remind yourself what life is."

It gets late and Christina wants to go home, but Igashu knows of a great band that's going to play at 1AM. He convinces us to stay out. Brojen and Elbram decide that they'll have one more drink then head home. (Actually, Brojen isn't drinking tonight.)

By the time we're done at the club, it's 4AM.

Igashu - "Which brings us to rule # 2: If you're going to get less than 3 hours of sleep, you might as well stay up. No sleep is better than too little."

We stay out for another couple hours and then realize that the shuttleport is a 45 minute drive from the Consulate and we're half an hour from the Consulate. We've got 2 hours to get there. No problem. Christina suddenly realizes that she still has to pack. We don't have to because we just got off a ship and never unpacked.

Igashu - "Rule # 3: Always pack first."

We get back to the Consulate by 6:15 and help Christina toss things into a bag. Then we're in a taxi headed toward the shuttleport. We pass a Diner and Igashu checks his watch. We've just got time for breakfast. We won't make it to the shuttle by 7AM, but we'll still make it well before 8.

Igashu - "Rule # 5: A night on the town requires a BIG breakfast."
Chris - "Wait, what's rule 4?"
Igashu - "Sunscreen. Trust me on the sunscreen."

We haven't heard from Brojen or Elbram, so we call them from the restaurant. It's almost 7am and they're still at the bar!! They lost track of time. Elbram was involved in some kind of heated philosophical debate. Luckily they're a little closer to the Consulate. They immediately head for the Consulate at top speed. Quindo suggests cutting time off preparations by having someone bring their bags from the barracks down to the front door. Christina knows people at the Consulate, she can call one of them!

Igashu - "Rule # 6: Never use the mind thingy if you can use a phone!"
Igashu - "Rule # 7: Here, have a glass of water."

Christina calls a friend and says "We forgot our bags, we're in a hurry, can you grab them from the barracks and bring them to the front door?"

Guy -"Yours' and Aegon's?"
Igashu - "Rule # 8: Just agree with them."
Christina - "Umm.. yes?"
Guy -"I better call Aegon."
Christina - "NO!, I mean, we're in a hurry, there's no time."
Guy -"I'm going to call Aegon."
Igashu - "Quick, get Aegon on the phone so the line's busy!"

Christina calls Aegon to tell him that we're on our way and that Brojen and Elbram are coming quickly behind. He gets another call (the guy at the Consulate) but ignores it and it goes away. *whew*

While she's on the phone, Quindo calls Brojen to tell him that someone might be bringing down the bags but thinks that they're Aegone's so he might have to do some fast talking.

We've finished Breakfast and head to the airport. We get there by 7:30. Aegon looks annoyed. Brojen and Elbram get to the Consulate and try to get their bags. Guy is not buying it. "But we're Jedi!"

Igashu - "Rule #9: 'Jedi' is not a trump card when you're dealing with other Jedi."

Finally, Brojen just grabs the bags and makes a run for it. Elbram was waiting in the taxi with the engine running. They won't make it to the shuttleport at this rate. Brojen tells the driver to speed like he's never sped before and he'll pay any tickets plus whatever increase in his insurance rates. Plus a bonus. He uses "Shift Sense" to see Radar and looks for speed traps and cops.

Aegon gets a call. He makes some "um hum" noises and finally says "No, that's fine, I'll take care of it." He turns to Christina and asks why Guy at the Consulate thinks that two Padawan just ran off with HIS luggage. She explains that Brojen and Elbram were running late and Guy was just confused. She tries to explain the bag fiasco. Aegone wants to know WHY we're late.

Quindo - "We're here with plenty of time."
Aegon - "That's not the point. You were supposed to be here at 7."
Quindo - "Well, we stopped for breakfast. It was my idea. I'm not sure why Brojen and Elbram are so late."
Christina - "Well, we didn't see them after around 2AM."
Aegon - "What were you doing out at 2AM?"
Christina - "Igashu said that it's Tradition?"
Aegon - "And what does a ROGUE know of TRADITION."

Igashu attempts to explain the tradition of going out the night before a mission offworld and Aegon frowns a lot and admonishes us about the Jedi's distance from worldly pleasures, etc. etc.

Aegon - "Where did these RULES come from?"
Igashu - "Well, last night mostly.... Master."
Aegon - "We'll speak of this later."

Brojen and Elbram arrive at 7:58AM.

We get on the ship to Nantel and each gets chewed out by Aegon in turn. Quindo spills everything about the night out except for his clandestine activities sending investigators after his mother. He's so obvious about everything else that Aegon never asks. *whew* Igashu, Quindo, and Elbram each independently try to take full responsibility. At least we're showing some solidarity.

Oh, and:

Igashu - "Rule # 10: Don't get caught."
