Gareth Goldeneye's background is unknown, but it is believed that he is the bastard son of nobility. When he met the party, he was leading a ragtag group of men rescuing and escorting refugees of the Kardian/Rowmari conflict to safety.

Horace healed Gareth's maimed right eye with a golden Healing Egg. When fully healed, Gareth's eye glowed gold and he could see in the dark, giving rise to his name Gareth Goldeneye.

Convinced of the need of able-bodied men to prevent an assasination of King Richard he left his men to see to the refugees and took a small contingent to Kardia City.

Among his men are Shemus, Michael, and Beau and Luc.
