One Parents Nightmare in Webster

On Friday evening the relatively quite town of Webster experienced a shocking occurance. Sandra Leeson, the four year old daughter of Mike and Louise Leeson disappeared. The child was out playing in her fenced in back yard one minute and was gone the next.

Webster has been an area experiencing much upheaval of late with the livestock mutilations that have been occurring in the area. Police are refraining from comment at the time and are trying to by optimistic on the outcome of finding Sandra.

Sandra's parents describe her as a loving carefree child who would never just wander off on her own. Sandra was last seen wearing a blue shirt and red overalls. She is about 3 feet tall and has dark brown hair.

The Webster police are currently searching the woods surrounding the Leeson's house and are asking for volunteers to help in the effort. If anybody has any information that the think could help in the search please contact the Webster police dept. as soon as possible.

New England Council of Arts Bumped

The New England Council of the Arts was to have their monthly business meeting in the conference facilities of the new star of the Worcester art scene, the Metropol. However, when the council arrived they found their accomadations less than adequate. Shuttled to the lobby and the upstairs foyer rather than the conference room for which they had paid for, the members of the Council found themselves conducting business--or attempting to among the ferns and couches instead of the burled mahogany tables of the Metropol conference facilities. Of course their money for the conference room was refunded but this was at best cold comfort.

Adele Merkavah, the council spokesman commented that "while we did appreciate the art surrounding us we were unable to conduct business and thus found ourselves having made a wasted trip to Worcester for the meeting. The hotel should have taken care not to double-book the conference rooms and when they realized that this happened they could of at least called us before we arrived at the Hotel. As a result of this shoddy treatment, we shall never have another meeting here. I dare-say the Motel 6 down the street probably could have provided us with better facilities and more courteous treatment."

Assumption College Student Missing

On the evening of Halloween Assumption College Student Daryl Renquist went out for a night of fun with several friends and he has yet to return. The students out to the Metropol for an evening of drinking and dancing. While at the club the group became separated in the blackout that appeared to be part of the pranks of the evening. Daryl's friends figured that he had met someone and who show up the next day at the dorm, he never returned.

There is much concern expressed by friends and family. They all label Daryl as a fun loving but responsible young man. Foul play is suspected since more than anything Daryl would never miss a football game. Daryl is the starting center for the Assumption College football team and his absences was sorely felt.

A plea for information is going out to anyone who may hold the key to the disappearance. Please contact either the Assumption College or Worcester Police Dept.

Pro-Lifers Rally Outside Blackstone River HMO

A small protest started last week outside of the Blackstone River HMO and within a few days has swelled to an immense disturbance. The Pro-life contingent in the area decided to target this HMO when rumors were overheard that the HMO was conducting fetal tissue research. Apolonia Giovanni when questioned stated, "We at Blackstone River do not use fetal tissue in research or for other testing, and the charges that they have leveled are frankly, ridiculous."

Once the Pro-Lifers came onto the scene the Pro-Choice supporters followed suit the next day. The Pro-Choicers have been providing escorts for anyone seeking to enter the HMO for services that the HMO provides.

At this point the protests have been orderly but the local police are concerned that any spark may set off a riot between the opposing groups. The protesters, at this point, have every right to be there since they have been peacefully gathering and the police will not break up the protest unless either side turns violent.

Probe Reveals Pool Leaks

The city government has just concluded a probe into the matter of the reflecting pool behind city hall. Some speculation had been made that the pool was not actually leaking and that the funds were being swindled by crooked politicians. The probe determined that the pool is actually leaking and that the money being spent to refill the pool is being used properly.

The next step is to determine why the pool is leaking since it was revamped last spring. The contractor has stated that he stands by his work and that the quality of his work is first class. Numerous people have stated that the government should mearly stop refilling the pool to save money until it is repair but unfortunately due to union contracts it must be monitored and refilled continuously until the contract expires or until new work starts.

The date of the new repairs is not yet set but officials hope to be completed by the winter season so that ice skating can occur as usual on the pool.

Explosion Kills Officer

Officer William Castle was conducting his duties and issuing a parking ticket to a car illegal parked in front of a business on Friday November 1st when the car exploded, killing him instantly. Fire resulting from the explosion, in addition to killing officer Castle completely destroyed a nearby used book store named Dusty Tomes. The proprietor of the shop was unavailable for comment.

Castle is survived by his wife of 15 years, Phyllis and 3 small children. The police of Worcester were devastated by the loss and are refraining from comment as of this writing.

The car appears to have been stolen earlier in the week and no motive has yet been established to the bombing.

For anyone interested, the police have started a trust for the Castle family to augment Castle's pension and assist the children with their education and well being. Contributions to the fund can be made at any local police station.
