Characters

Below are some thumbnail sketches of the Families and their members.  No great secrets are revealed here, just the average impression that you get from meeting them.  If you have an interest in a particular character, contact a GM.  We can't guarantee a role for you, but we'll take it into account.

The Jade Family:

Jade is a world covered mostly by oceans and islands with only one small continent.  On the western shore of the continent, in a deep natural harbor, lies the city of Jade, a city built within giant rock spires that jut up from the ocean floor.  Of all of Oberon's kingdom's this is one of the most peaceful.  The Jade Family includes:

• Alison:  Eldest daughter and commander of Jade's armies.  A stern, commanding woman.
• Laurelli:  Middle daughter and mistress of the horse.  A quiet woman who has always stood by her older sister.
• Celest:  The youngest of the girls, she is a wanderer and explorer who roams the seas of Jade in her ships.
• Gerald:  A bastard son who supports his sisters with his scholarly pursuits.

On the world of Larinorr, deep woods surround the tiny specks of human civilization.  The average peasant never goes further than 7 miles afield in his lifetime.  Only a foolhardy few risk the trip on the dangerous roads through the forest.  But for those who do travel the roads, they eventually lead to Duplain.  There, Tycho sits on the throne in his father's stead and weathers the storm of his brother's wrath.  Duplain is a tiny mirror that reflects the larger conflicts in Amber.  The Duplain Family members include:

• Michael:  Exiled from Duplain for telling the truth, Michael wages war against father and brothers.
• Tycho:  Ruler in Duplain, he has beaten back Michael before, but the war still goes on.
• Morgan:  The youngest brother ignores the battle for power in favor of drunken revels.
• Juliet:  Michael's sister holds those two most dangerous qualities, kindness and mercy.

Nestled on the highest peaks of the mountain world of Atmas, the kingdom of Kurania thrives. An intricate network of bridges and paths from mountaintop to mountaintop connect and maintain the civilization found there. Roving cadres of bandits often waylay the caravans travelling back and forth, making a standing police force a necessity. Amongst the Cordaine family, you will find:

• Alek: Captain of the guard, and master of arms in Kurania.
• Gidyon: The middle brother; a sickly youth who has spent much of his life in musty halls amongst doctors and sages.
• Theron: Poet and patriot, a truly continental "appreciator" of the finer things in life. Twin of Avram.
• Avram: The youngest and most disillusioned of the brothers, he is perhaps the least interested in politicking and shortest of temper. Twin of Theron.

The Somas Family:

Deep within the heart of the jungle world of Kanmat lies the bejeweled city of Tumalo. More than half the populace exists as slave labor, working day and night in the gemstone mines beneath the hills and savannahs. All manner of creature can be found roaming and lurking beneath the canopy and across the veldt Within the ranks of the Somas family:

• Luc: An explorer and philosopher, most interested in the study of ancient civilizations and the secrets of the past.
• Pyotr: The Hunter; he lusts after bigger and bigger game, and finds the greatest fulfillment in mounting his trophies at the end of the hunt.
• Dalia: An exotic temptress whose tastes are rumored to plumb the darkest depths of Amberite nature.
• Curt: Luc's constant companion; the youngest brother is not often found apart from his eldest brother. Their adventures together have become nearly legendary among the storytellers of Kanmat.
