Slarti's Gweep projects
As a Gweep, I am naturally given
to fairly long stretches of time in front of a computer screen, doing
one thing or another. I am much more of a system administrator than any
stripe of hard-core programmer, so less of my online time is spent
trying to get some code to work rather than chatting with friends and
colleagues or keeping machines running. As someone who makes a hobby of
documentation systems, I also spend time studying things like Web technologies and typesetting systems.
From time to time, I even produce something relatively tangible and
worthwhile from my efforts. It's not often, but it happens. When it
does, I'll make it available from here.
- Tengwar research: creation of a new
linguistic mode for Tolkien's Tengwar writing system (work still in
progress
- Mockups of the insignia of the International
Police Organization Space Force: a relatively quick work in
translating description into graphical form
- The computer game "Deus Ex" had computers that you could hack to
read other characters' e-mail for a limited time. There was one e-mail
that was in French, and you couldn't really translate it on the fly in
the time allowed. So I went through the trouble of transcribing it, so that I could feed it to
Google's translator.
- libm4a: a module for playing m4a sound files on XMMS.
- LJlogin: a Firefox extension
that tells you which LiveJournal account you're logged
in with, and lets you switch between accounts saved in the Password
Manager
